ANTITROPYAntitropy (2014) explores how we relate to the world through juxtaposition, and asks: in creating our digital selves, are we transcending the natural world‑‑or rather projecting a mirrored other, symmetric, concurrent, innately opposed?Molded paper, fabric and texture elements become a fabric around the human form, lit with projection mapped video from within. Video content features images of ephemeral memories and portraits. Viewers may choose to collaborate and interact with the piece by submitting a photo on Instagram.
SAFETYSafety (2014) explores how we create security through physical assurance, memory, culture, and psychological suggestion. The piece blends an assemblage of materials--organic and industrial, constructed and functional: wood, metal, wire, fabric, and miscellaneous tokens--into a tapestry and alludes to the form of an heirloom quilt. This piece fits into a larger conversation on how humanity positions itself in history and the natural world--are we the purveyor of control, or instead oblivious to its futility?
ViscosityViscosity (2012) is a 2D mixed media piece that contemplates the ability to hold mass and motion through form. Mosaic patterned paper tiles emulate a slow moving liquid, pooling and decidedly running over each other.
